Lili, a celebration of life.

On July 11, 1997, just a few days after I turned 15, my mom Liliana, suddenly died of a brain aneurysm. She was 39 years-old. I spent the next two decades dealing with grief the best I could, but without any professional help. About 7 years ago, my wife asked me a simple question, what was mom’s favorite food? I couldn’t answer, not because I didn’t want to but because I didn’t remember. So, the next day, I started working on a list with all my memories with her.

That’s when the idea of writing a book about her life was born.

Over the next few years, I wrote more than 40 stories of my own, and interviewed pretty much everybody that was close to her. Completing the 340+ pages of this book has not been an easy task, and it’s been an emotional roller coaster. But at the same time, this is by far the most rewarding personal project I’ve ever done in my life. It’s also proved to be a great healing therapy for me, and because of it, I was finally able to come to terms with her death.

This book changed my life and this is my monument to my dear mom.

Lili was an incredible artist who taught me everything about art.

There are watercolor illustrations all over the book, as well as a costume font I created, inspired by Lili’s handwriting.

Lili was obsessed with Christmas, it was her favorite time of the year.

Planting trees and getting lost in her garden was one of her favorite weekend activities.

The book will be a gift for my loved ones, especially for the young children in my family so they can learn about their grandma Lili.
